OUR TEAM
Care at Phyllingstherapy Center is based on a systemic approach that addresses the concerns that people bring into therapy within the context of their relationships.
Rochunda Lee
Master Level Training Clinician
I am born and raised in Houston, Texas, and enjoy spending time with my children in my spare
time. I also love to read and listen to podcasts.
My passion lies in working with individuals, teens, and families seeking to make a positive
change in their lives. I believe healing happens through genuine, nonjudgmental, compassionate
interactions with others. My background allows me to connect deeply with others, and I have a
natural ability to establish relationship and positive rapport with people from all walks of life.
I have over 17 years of experience working with children and families through the Texas
Department of Family and Protective Services (TDFPS) as a caseworker and investigative
supervisor. During my tenure with TDFPS, I realized I wanted to better understand mental health
challenges that impacted the families I served. I obtained a Master of Arts degree in Psychology
in 2005. After departing TDFPS, I became employed at local Mental Health Authority, The
Harris Center, as a Care Coordinator, providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention
services within Houston and surrounding areas.
In working in mental health, I immediately became aware of clients’ often need for higher levels
of care; and I saw the value in furthering my education in my current endeavor of attending
Lamar University and obtaining a Master of Education in Marriage and Family Therapy.
I approach our work collaboratively, and while I use a variety of interventions and orientations
based on clients’ needs, my work is informed Solution-Focused Therapy and Cognitive
Behavioral Therapy; I take a Systemic Approach- this simply means I am interested in all aspects
of your life and will examine the relationships between you and the other people in your life-
friends, partners, children, parents, siblings, co-workers, bosses, peers, and how they are
impacting you.
